Custom Wordpress Theme Does your blog look UGLY!??!? Are you in a need for a new WordPress theme? How about a CUSTOM theme? A theme with your ideas, a theme with your name on it, a theme that was made specially just for you! Yes, YOU! You think you can handle it?

I will design a custom WordPress theme for absolutely NO COST for one lucky sob blogger voted by the people! I am not asking for a link back, I am not asking any money, I am not asking for anything. I am doing this simply because I can.

How does it work?

Here’s a step by step process on how this will happen.

  1. I will choose 24 passionate bloggers, after the deadline of September 30, 2007, from the comments on this post (read below on how to enter).
  2. Out of those 24 bloggers, people will decide one lucky blogger who will get a free custom WordPress Theme for his submitted blog.
  3. I will personally work with the winner to discuss the custom theme and possibly a new logo if you don’t have one already!
  4. I will then release the theme for a free download, with a footer link to the winner’s website! Winner will decide the name of theme (e.g. DM-[insert name])

How to Enter

Participating is real simple. Here are the rules:

  1. You must be a passionate blogger.
    Passionate blogger is someone who writes regularly on the blog, and doesn’t take months off. Passionate blogger is someone who shows interest in the content he writes (no matter what niche), and doesn’t write generic articles that are written on 50 other websites.
  2. Tell people WHY they should vote for you. (please keep it less than 150 words.)

Hi :)

I like to blog, but I don’t design very well. It’s hard to keep up with a blog that doesn’t look nice or when the design gets old. I blog to keep in touch with friends and to make new friends. I’d like to win this, however I don’t know if there’s anything that makes me special enough to win it.

I’m a professional blogger (checkout the site for proof!) I own several blogs… few blogs are making me money and lots of blogs are NOT.

Ever since I started ReviewBoss.com I installed several dozen themes… the current one is okay…but I like custom coded. Few months back I hired a coder to custom design a theme for me from DigitalPoint forum and paid him $200. I was a moron then. The theme was looking good. But it had lots of syntax errors. W3C validator reported more than 80 bugs… that’s the reason I’m not using that theme anymore.

I don’t want to lose another few hundred bucks hiring a theme designer again…

So, yes… I deserve a free custom theme for my site…

Writing is my forte, but design? Well let’s just say I can do better.

Greetings everyone, this is SJ here from Singapore. I am passionate about writing and growth. I run Personal Development for the Book Smart. The purpose of my site is to help like-minded people create a richer life and reach their fullest potential.

Why you should vote for me:

1) I believe that design is a major component of usability and human-computer-interaction. A great design can increase visitor retention rate and adds to the overall appeal of a site.

As highlighted in my opening paragraph, my gift is in writing. Won’t it be great if we could combine beautiful writing with a professional design?

2) I left a Multi-National-Corporation to work full-time on http://richgrad.com I paid over $25k on seminars and books and conduct interviews with successful entrepreneurs, the purpose of which is to provide my readers with free, quality content. I believe in creating value.

Currently, since my site is new, not many people know about it. Having my url in the footer link of DM’s theme would really help with traffic building. As more people know about my site, more will benefit from it.

Why i want a nice design?

Passion? If it’s passion you want I have it. I ooze passion (try not to get any on yourself). Whether it’s television, movies, internet aps, or the next Congressional vote I have an opinion on everything and I love to share. I go further than most though by bringing the latest news to my readers along with links to even more relevant information so they can follow-up for themselves. My readers come to me because they know I’m always going to give them interesting stuff and I’m always going to tell them what I think about it.

Would I like to make money with my website? Sure. Who wouldn’t? But do I sacrifice my readers to do it. Absolutely not. Right now I have a passable Wordpress theme that I modified from the BloggingPro theme (meaning I hacked it to pieces and then put it back together so that it’ll run but it’s UGLY in the background). It works, but my readers deserve more.

I would like to win this contest so that Little Johnny won’t have to read about Survivor: China while he strains his eyes against the clashing blues of my current background design. Maybe Grandma Jones deserves to be able to watch a preview for “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” without fear of her browser unexpectedly crashing because I did something unspeakable and evil to my Wordpress Theme. Don’t do it for me. Help me win this for the hundreds of people out there like Little Timmy and Grandma Jones who need what my site, Inner88, gives them on a daily (sometimes several times a day) basis…a good healthy dose of all the time consuming goodness that is the internet.

I would love to have a custom blog. I am part of a local “dieting divas” group. I have a personal blog I post to everyday, charting my progress and sharing tips to help others in their journey. I’ve recently installed WPMU on a new site with hopes of sharing the fun (and often therapeutic) world of blogging with my sister divas. I’m short on creativity, but would love a “happy” design to grab and hold their interest in daily blogging. Thank you for considering :-)

You should choose/vote for me because though I run a blog and fairly popular podcast… that does not translate into the ability to do little more than modify existing Wordpress themes nor does it mean that I can afford to commission one. I would really appreciate a custom theme… mostly because I need one so badly. ;)

I deserve to win because blogging is literally my only hope; I either make it as a professional blogger or i dont make it period. i was born eight weeks premature addicted to crack cocaine and heroin – end result? Cerebral Palsy – I can only move one limb– my left arm, and thus I type with four fingers on my left hand which means my computer and blogs are my only hope of making something of myself. I blog political commentary because the 18-30 demographic has the highest potential but the lowest participation in and underlying respect for our Democracy – made possible by those that laid their life in sacrifice on the solemn alter of freedom. I face insurmountable odds seeking success blogging professionally, but believe impossibility is only made possible with consent and that odds only vanquish those willing to concede defeat.

Hello,

I realize that I didn’t really put why I’d like to win this in my last comment. It’s not really about the money, and I do blog with passion. I care about my readers and try to give them blogging tips and help with beginning blogging. I need my site to look professional so that more people can visit and trust what I’m imparting to them. It’s just a collection of tidbits that I’ve learned since 2005. When my music site, Earsucker, wasn’t part of a network, no one took it seriously, due to the cheap looking theme. Even though the news was on the money, I couldn’t get interviews or anything. Now that it’s been redesigned by the b5media people, it has attracted some major talent for interviews and people trust more that I know what I’m talking about.

So there you have it. I hope that someone who deserves this, wins it. :)

hi,
I would really like to participate as I write a lot of unique content and many people seem to like it. yet I feel like that my personal site design is a bit “too” complex.
this complexity might hinder people from probably interacting with the site and me. I barely get any comments. (about 10,000 unique a day visitors but only 2-3 comments- you do the math).
Sometimes you are simply blind when designing your own site.
Due to studies I dont have that much time at the moment to do a complete and solid redesign, yet I could really need it. I dont have real logo yet, but just some crap vector pattern thing that looks like a blob.
I see you are hosted with dreamhost, I was too, but they told me I outgrew their shared hosting environment. I now got my own virtual private server in dallas with co-location to all major networks. it’s really solid and I have some spare space. If you would like I’d set you up with some quality fast hosting, your own sql, own ftp, own site. at dreamhost you can easily change nameservers - thus the domain stays the same, just the content gets loaded quicker. feel free to reply, yours jez

Pick me or else… Am I passionate? Sure. I meet the requirement, now vote for me! I am looking for a beautiful “office” type of design. Free WordPress themes suck. I need a custom one designed. There are no Office Themes out there, this would be a good exposure for you. I just started blogging about what goes through the mind of an office tech guy. Great idea and content, just need a good design. Is that enough or do you want me to send over one of these beautiful ladies from my office?
