No, we are not entering some Zune contest or anything, just wanted to write about what a great inspiration John Chow has been for the many members of the blogging community.

John Chow

You can’t be a bird man, if you don’t know how to count. The Birdman: John Chow.

John Chow, a proud member of the “probably yo’ daddy” foundation, has inspired so many bloggers to start their own blog, and make money by blogging. His greatest technique so far has been getting people to do a review of his blog. Over 1000s of people have linked to his site by saying that John Chow helps you make money online. You can read the past archives to see what people have to say about John Chow’s blog.

In April 2007, John banked close to $12,000 just from his blog, this monthly earnings alone has inspired many bloggers to write and believe that it IS possible to make money online. I personally know many people who have been inspired by John Chow. Now, not everyone can make as much as John Chow… why is that? How did John Chow become THE John Chow?

Early on, John Chow didn’t make thousands of dollars, he worked his way up and his earnings clearly show that he worked his way up. He quickly gained a lot of attention when he got dugg quite a few times. This is when John Chow was born. Many people loved what he had to share, but many became his haters, haters who eventually got him banned from Digg. The ones who kept coming to his site, became his avid fans. Once John’s reputation was made, all he had to do is talk… he talked about food, a cool car he saw… anything, it didn’t have to be related to the topic of making money and people still came to his site to see what he had to say. Currently, comments have become an issue where quantity has overcome the quality. People will post comments on his site just to get on the Top Commentator list, it’s quite ridiculous how people type stuff such as, “LOL”, “That is awesome”, “You’re funny!” just to get on that list.

Is there ever stopping to John Chow? There’s only one man who can stop John Chow, it’s the man himself. He is done planting his seeds, all he has to do now is sit back, water the plant and see how big the tree grows.

I’m a reader of John, and it’s still a big mystery for me how did he manage to build that traffic to his sites without big spendings in marketing… I guess he was socializing :)

Chow got dugg couple of times, that’s when his site started getting lots of hits. I still don’t find any good content on his site, but it’s all about getting that “one break”, that “one article”…. once you have that you’re a hit.

I couldnt agree more - I frequent digg, and ended up on his site a few times from there. Once I decided I wanted to give blogging a try, I subscribed to his RSS feed, thinking it would be a great source of valuable information pertaining to blogging.

I unsubscribed 2 days later after reading 4 separate posts about food. He posts like a madman, and about 90% of the time, I just didn’t care. I keep an eye on the site now just to remind myself that it’s not always great content, that gets you to the top, it also requires great promotion. Apparently sometimes great promotion is all it takes.
