I was looking for some inspiration for my next theme release (wordpress powered magazine) and I came around my favorite magazine, BusinessWeek.

Photoshop has been around for decades and has proven to be the best product on the market by continuing improving and scaling it’s ability to do things. Photoshop started as a side project of a Michigan Grad Student.
In the fall of 1987, Thomas Knoll, a doctoral candidate in computer vision, was trying to write–as a diversion from his doctoral–computer code to display grayscale images on a black-white bitmap monitor. Because it wasn’t directly related to his thesis on computer vision, Knoll thought it had limited value at best. The code was called Display. Knoll wrote it on his Mac Plus computer at home. Little did he know that this initial code would be the very beginning of the phenomenon that would be known as Photoshop.
Well, I am sure you’ve noticed it by now that PayPal has a new logo. [/sarcasam]
You didn’t notice it because they filled the white with blue and deleted the stroke around it! Check it out:
According to the official introduction of the new logo last week, here’s what they had to say:
Our team reviewed hundreds of designs in selecting the logo you see today. Some were pretty far out there and some stayed quite close to the original design. We carefully tested them with our customers to help guide us to the right decision.
Hundreds, eh? May we see them? How come you didn’t think of filling in the colors originally? Here’s a little further reading on the logo. You like it? Don’t like it?
I believe the video that started motion typography and inspired other artists was the “Pulp Fiction in Typography“. Sure it’s been done before it, but it just made it even more fun! It’s not as easy as you might think, it’s not a matter of making the font a bigger size and changing the font style. It’s rather a much harder process, as you have to time things correctly and put emphasis on words that really stand out.
When you’re doing any kinds of graphics (brochures, flyers, billboard), the typography is the most important element. Don’t just select a paragraph and make the font size and get it done with… be creative, just like these videos!
