The name is Nupur Shah. Kind of like Newport, but without the letter T. Maybe like, “nuh-poor”. Ah, forget it, you’ll never get it right. Let’s move on…
The name “Deaf Musician” actually came from a friend of mine. It’s kind of a catch-22, how can you play music if you’re deaf and in order to play music, you need hearing abilities. It just sounded like a cool phrase, so I adopted the term. In actuality, it IS possible to be deaf and be a musician, feeling the sound waves and all that, but I won’t get into it.
I started this “blog” (what a lame term) just to share interesting things I find online, perhaps share ideas and post useful tips that can help someone in starting out in web design. I will be sharing interesting things about web and graphic design, things that I find inspirational, interesting, innovative, etc.
By day, I am a freelancer in web/graphic/blog design, and by night, I am a blogger. I blog across many different sites under many different nom de plumes. My passions are as following:
- Creating Websites - This is so much fun, specially creating WordPress templates. It gives me so much pride to look at other people’s websites and say, “Oh, I designed that!” I have and will continue to provide free WordPress templates, simply because I enjoy doing this.
- Read Magazines - Yes, I read 20+ magazines monthly. It’s just that they are such an inspiration!
- Music - I’ll listen to almost anything… as long as it’s LOUD, I just get stuff done faster that way. Music is life. Music is everything.
- Bike Riding - I love riding my bike (Kawasaki Ninja 636, and the bicycle), I often ride it on the weekends, just for fun.
I have never taken any web / graphic design courses. What I learned is all on my own, because I am a strong believer of learning by doing. I isn’t dun learin yet. I don’t think you can teach someone how to hit a ball by having them read a book.
